So the time has arrived. We’re just waiting for our car to take us to the airport and it’s time to say thanks to ….
– Friends, Oak Table Network Members, and fellow ACEs (some qualify in all
three categories) who are the essence of attending the conference for
me. I only wish there weren’t so many friends that I didn’t get as much of a chance to see as I might have liked. It’s difficult keeping up.
– Justin, Vikki, Lillian and all at OTN who take care of the ACEs and so many other things.
– All involved in the organisation of Oracle Closed World.
– Alex Gorbachev, OTN, Pythian and HP for a very successful Blogger’s Meet-up.
I’m bound to have forgotten people, but I find coming to these events very inspiring as well as tiring and that’s largely down to other people.
Just to reassure people that I do take better care of the Cuddly Toys than you think, this is them ready to go …
but what you don’t know, is that there’s someone missing! When I turned up to Oracle Closed World on day 2, he was sitting at the table because the boys from Miracle had brought him over from Denmark!
Yes, Roger has not only been living in Denmark since the last UKOUG conference, he was now in a secret location in San Francisco and, trust me, I was not expecting to see him there! He seems to have acquired a hint of a Danish accent and has obviously turned into a complete Oracle conference junkie. However, foolishly, I left him again and so now he is on his way back to Denmark. Hopefully I’ll see him at UKOUG in Birmingham although perhaps he thinks he has moved on to higher and better things than I can provide 🙁
Disclosure: I’m attending this year’s Openworld Conference at the
invitation of the Oracle ACE Director program, which is paying my
travel and accommodation expenses.

I’m slowly recovering from you ditching both of my sessions 🙂
Here’s the link to the papers you wanted to read.
Wow, there are quite a few there I haven’t seen. Now I just need to find the time to read them and blog about them in a vain attempt to make up for skipping your sessions 😉
Hi Doug,
I’m going to UKOUG in Birmingham and am now looking forward to seeing you, Roger and all the Cuddly Toys 🙂
I’ll be there exhibiting Red Gate’s Schema Compare for Oracle and also http://www.oracleoverflow.com.
See you there!

There’s a chance to win tickets to this year’s conference at

Good video campaign too..
These comments are dangerously close to advertising, which is normally a no-no round here, but as they’re relevant, I’ll let it go this time 😉

Unless I’m advertising myself, of course 😉
